The Murrays

Tired?

This picture sums up our week-tiring. After a wonderful summer, the Murray household had to send Ed back to work on Monday. If only summers were year round. I know for those of you that don't have a house husband, you may not understand me saying that. But in the summer months, I am a lucky lady. My laundry is done for me, grocery shopping is done together, home projects get completed right as they go on the list, and cleaning is done (well most of it, I still had a little bit to do on the weekends). Ed is dissapointed that he did not get more done on the basement though. Our goal is to have it completed by the end of 2007. Any volunteers to help will be put to work!

Marin is back at grandma's on Tuesday-Friday and at home with me on Mondays. She love going to grandma's house. When we went to pick her up tonight, I told her it was time to go home. She told me "no"! I think she is even more spoiled by grandma and grandpa than mom and dad.

On a side note..........

Last night, Marin was swinging in the backyard and looked up and pointed out the moon. She told me it was "pescent". I looked at her and said "what". I was told "pescent moon". After repeating it myself a few times, Ed and I figured out she was telling us that it was a "crescent moon". I still am not sure how she knew this!

Making Faces

Cheesy grin! Marin is into making faces. She has the cheesy grin, hairy eyeball (my mom taught her that face), pout, and wink.

Hairy Eyeball!

Ladybug Walk

Who needs a dog to walk when you have a toy ladybug. Over the weekend Marin wanted to go for a walk and insisted on bringing the ladybug. We ended up going to the park and then to my parents. Our walk took about an hour and we only walked about a half of a mile. Marin walked about a 1/4 of a mile on her own. That is the furthest she has walked without asking to be carried.

In the Mind of Marin..

I often look at Marin and wonder what she is thinking. She knows about 17-20 letters in the alphabet, can count to 12 (but will not include 7), and remembers the names and faces of all of her aunts, uncles, and cousins. I'm impressed, as these are not things I thought 21 month old did.

Then there are things I thought she would understand, but clearly does not....

When you ask her what her name is she says, "You." You ask her, What is "you's" name. Then she will say "Marin". She also does not say anything is "mine". If you ask who's doll is that? She says "you's."

We had storms today and had hail. Marin thought it was very cool that ice was falling from the sky. Grandma and Ed took her out to play after it was done. She decided it would be cool to eat the hail. Then, she asked Ed for more. Ed told her it was done. She then said to Ed, "More! Sky! Reach!" Translated from Marin speak this meant she was to going to reach into the sky and get more.

Finally, we were going over to a neighbor's house the other night. Their little girl's name is Ella. Marin asked me Ella's mommy and daddy's names. I told her, " Sarah and Ryan." Then, Marin told me we were walking to: "See, Ella, Ryan, and Mommy." Apparently, in her mind all Sarahs are really called mommy because that is what I am called.

Now you know why I wonder how her little brain works.

Pool Pictures, I Promised

Playing in the fountain.

I am going to make a BIG splash.

Everyone do the back float.

Look at me! I love swimming.

It is a good thing we have swimming lessons starting up again this fall because Marin has been going to the pool once a week during the summer. I think she would suffer from withdrawal.

The Arens Family is Coming! Come...Come...

Yesterday, we had a great day with Ed's sister Shannon's family. I told Marin earlier in the week that they were coming on Sunday. I got a lot of Chase, come, Sydney, come, Pat, come, and it continued with the rest of the family. Marin is always saying hi and bye to anyone that will listen these days. She often has a perplexed look on her face when people are not as friendly back. She just screams hi or bye even louder thinking they will then respond with an answer. If nothing else works she yells COME!

Back to yestersday, we all went to the Aquatic Center and had a blast. It is a zero depth entry, but has 4 water slide for the older kids, diving boards, etc. Marin pretty much runs wild at the at the water park. She has no fear of water and wherever her cousins went, she went. She even went down the BIG (this is the way Marin says big, she shouts it) water slide with Ed a couple times.

The day ended with dessert on the deck and a baseball game in the backyard. Marin is a lucky girl to have older cousins that love and play with her so much. Today, she was saying Shannon, come, Lydia, come, Elliot, come.........you get the picture.

I will post pictures of the water park soon, I forgot my camera and Shannon will be emailing us picutres.

Minnesota Twins Fans?

Yes, we have become Minnesota Twins fans since moving to Minnesota. Don't worry we will never be Viking or Gopher fans! We went to a game last Saturday night with friends and had a lot of fun. Marin was lucky enough to get her picture taken with TC and daddy, plus she received her first Major League Baseball (with scuff marks from the bat and everything). I am almost 30 and I still don't have my own ball. She loved watching the fans and players. She kept on looking at the players on the field and telling them to come. I guess she was wanting to interview them or something. The only lowlight of the evening was that the Twins lost.

A Hard Days Work

Well our day with Marin started at 4:30 a.m., when she woke up telling me that she could not see. I thought she was saying Suzy, that is her dolls name. She then told me "not see." She has never had a night light and this is the first time she was concerned about it being too dark in her room. She told me that she wanted out. Being the softy that I am I let her climb into bed with mom and dad. I know I should not let her do this, but it is so nice to snuggle with her. She woke us up at 8:15 this morning and it was go, go, go after that.

We went swinging and watched the construction workers moving "big equipment", as she called it. We then had Marin's pictures taken this afternoon, bought Ed new glasses (Marin played in a bathtub in the middle of the mall while this transaction took place), looked for a new fridge, practiced swinging the bat on our batting tee, played chase, and ended with swinging in the backyard. Sometimes Ed and I think that we are more tired than Marin at the end of the day.

All You Need is a Slip and a Scarf....

and you have a beautiful dress. Yes, we play a lot of dress up at our house.

Decided to Give This a Try

Ed and I have tried keeping a journal of all the on goings in Marin's life and we seem to be doing a horrible job. So I thought maybe if I started a blog that maybe I would do a better job. My friend Kelly has had a blog for over a year and I love hers and keep on thinking what a wonderful way to capture life. Now it is the Murrays turn to give it a try.

This is Marin dressing herself. We had given her an early bath and then decided to go to my parents's house. I put the t-shirt on her and then she insisted on the hat and boots. I think maybe she thought she was a runway model or something.
